why is my dog peeing on my bed? How can I stop her?

I have a 1yr old brazilian terrier, she used to be my aunts, I’ve had her for a couple months. The last few weeks she started peeing on my bed and on the couch also. She is rarely left alone, I’m always with her, take her for walks, she had pee pads at home too. She usually pees on my bed while I’m at home, today I woke up and went to the kitchen to make some breakfast, when i came back to my room, she had peed on my bed. She is not allowed on the bed, unless I invite her and she sits on my lap. Same goes for the couch. She has her crate, has toys and bones etc..nothing has changed in my house since I have had her. Don’t know what to do to stop her, I usually tell her NO! Bad girl! and send her to her crate.. but it’s not working since it keeps happening.. I need help on this one!

You should never send a dog to its crate as a form of punishment. The dog will associate the crate with negativity. You have to keep the dog in her crate for 30 mins, then take her outside to a designated area for her to do her “business.” If she goes, then you reward her with a treat. If not, back to the crate for 30 more minutes. Also, to ensure the dog doesnt pee in the crate, you may need to partition it so that it’s not big enough for the dog to designate a bathroom area in it.

You should not allow the dog to go on beds or couches, because you are equating the dog to yourself. Dogs are pack animals and all packs have a leader. If you don’t assume the role of pack leader, then the dog will think she is the leader. You need to educate this dog. An educated dog is a happy dog.
