Bark Control Dog Collars: What kind should I get?
My dog has recently started to bark a lot. We live in a lower level of condominiums and every time she hears the slightest noise, runs to the back door and barks a storm (even at 3 am!). I know that DOF is a dog and bark … but in reality been pressing his luck. Anyway, I was told to buy him a Bark Control Collar. However, it seems that there are several different types to choose from. I've seen those providing a citrus smell when the dog barks, one that sounds whenever the bearks dogs (but humans can not hear), which sends a correction "harmless static" when the dog barks, etc. Does anyone have any experience with these necklaces? If so, I wondered what has worked for you / what works best. Thanks for your help!
First of all really depends on the size of the dog to start. If the dog is a small dog (less than 10 pounds) a static correction collar, not recommended because it is too heavy for their size. From personal experience with one of our Rat Terrier 15 pounds a static seems to be the only one that actually works 95% of the time. We have tried to Sonic that only the dog is supposed to listen (honestly, I also heard sounded like a whistle) and did not work made it more because the bark could hear something and not know where he came from. Then we tried the citronella collar, and within a day the can was gone and the most tin barked nonsense had gone out and replacing expensive to maintain with the smell to be horrible for you to smell. I agree with another person on the dog sprayed with an aerosol and not a little, but if your dog is getting on sprees barking at 3 am iam the last thing I want to do is be chasing his dog around with a spray bottle. I say if your dog is over 10 pounds treat static shock and just put it on the dog when his nessicary. Have at their disposal at Walmart for about $ 35. Good luck!
