The benefits of an invisible dog fence
When you are building a dog at home about, spare a thought for the people who built the Wall Dingo in Australia. Released from the 1880s to protect large herds of sheep in southern Queensland, where dingoes had been virtually exterminated.
To avoid dingoes from other areas to reach the sheep, the fence was built. It is 6 feet tall and is one foot underground, with uprights every 9 meters. It is the longest fence in the World, which extends 5320 km which is more than 3305 miles! Ironically, there has been a success – dingoes are still lurking in the area!
Does your dog needs an invisible fence?
Some dogs delight in the flower beds damage and destruction of orchards. Worse, they could escape and cause an accident – for which would be responsible. If you do not want very high, solid fencing around your property – or the price of it, might be time to consider an "invisible" nearby.
What is an invisible fence?
There are many of these on the market now and all work in a similar manner. An invisible fence allows you to have a or more dogs running freely on your property, within the limits of your choice.
How do these fences work?
A wire (any anything up to 400m long) is placed on the floor, buried beneath the surface or attached to a fence that is already there. The wire carries a signal transmitted from a small unit. The dog wears a special collar that receives a signal if you go near the wire.
The signs are usually in areas. When the dog gets anywhere near the wire that goes into "alert zone" and he will hear a warning 'beep' in the neck. If it gets even closer, enter correct area of a "get a buzz and a small electrical pulse through the neck.
Once the dog begins to realize the limits, the owner can reduce the electrical impulses and are based on audible warnings. Finally, once the dog is reliable and not going anywhere near the fence, the neck can be eliminated of – or replaced by a dummy collar while he is in – 'probation'!
Make adjustments in the system
These Fences can be set up to suit any dog and any design as defined by the owner. The distances of both the warning and the correction zones can be adjusted. The force electrical pulse can be modified to suit the size and temperament of the dog.
Will my dog be hurt by the electrical impulses?
No – it does not hurt. It is not a new idea – this has been used in various forms of dog training for over 40 years.
I have more than one dog – Does this system yet?
Yes – with these systems, provided that each dog has a collar with a receiver, the system will work for them.
Do not forget the 'Dummy' Necklace
Most systems recommend that your dog wears a collar dummy for a few days before the invisible fence creation phase. This is for two reasons. Let the dog get used to the collar so it is not distracted by the unusual feeling of it when the start pulse area be used. It is also important because it can be counterproductive for the dog to associate the impulses to the neck, instead of the fence.
What if my dog Gets through the fence?
This is very rare and usually means that the neck does not fit properly, resulting in the dog gets weak or no pulse.
