What are your feelings about wireless electronic pet fences?

For some people and their pets these fences work quite well. Others who have had no problems with them. I picked up the dog using a remote control for the electronic fence. The remote battery was dead what the impact was not there when the dog came to the border of the fence. There are other dogs that hate the blows they receive, and will just keep running right through boundaries of the fence, but are becoming more of a shock. I've even seen dogs using two remote controls since the crash of a remote control is not sufficient to give the dog a warning to stop.
