15 checkpoints when buying a puppy English Springer Spaniel
Buying an English springer spaniel puppy is the first step on the long road of fun and fellowship with these wonderful animals. Therefore, it is important to do well and these tips will help you do that. There is a saying that says "leave the puppy you choose, but that is all to some extent, because we still want to be sure that the new puppy is basically sound.
If you have done all the preliminary checks on the puppy – pedigree parents, the winners in the last two generations, and so on then get to the points fine.
A puppy is, by definition, very young, so I dont know how it will grow, and therefore must rely on parents' eyes. The fact that can control things from the mother (and maybe the father too, if it's about) are without judging the experts:
1. On one side is the body basically square – Height equal to the length is good?
2. The front legs – actually the position of the mother with pigeon toes or legs extended, or, ideally, feet forward?
3. Are the hindquarters are muscular and strong and the back legs facing forward? The hind legs should have a slope moderate back, and should not be vertical or tilted too.
4. The base of the tail should run parallel with the back of the dog and not rise above it.
5. The legs should look like a continuation of the legs and fingers should not be extended (which can lead to injury).
6. The hair must be glossy and healthy-looking, but not coarse or curly. Feathering should not be excessive.
7. In addition to the basic liver and white or black and white, some stains tan are acceptable, but only on the eyebrows, cheeks, inside ears, under tail, leg sparely. Blue roan is an acceptable color in the U.S..
If she checks well in these respects, and has a good natural way with the legs dangling and then forward that everyone should be a good indicator for puppies.
In the puppy, controls should be the following (in addition to others contained in the second paragraph)
1. A liver Coloring should be rich and dark.
2. A wavy coat in a puppy is not a good sign for an adult show dog – check behind the shield head and down the neck and back. Showing may not be important to you, but a wavy coat requires more preparation.
3. Deep blue eyes that are running or crying (deeper color now means a more intense color at maturity hazel).
4. A cold wet nose without spots pink.
5. A coat that is smooth and shiny.
6. Check correct teeth to bite – the upper teeth have a close relative of overlap in lower teeth and set square jaw.
7. Check to see that both testicles are descended (this would be for 6-8 weeks of age). If the puppy is over 8 weeks after two fully descended testicles should be a show dog online.
The puppy should not appear too thin or too fat. A big belly could point to the worms.
These controls are generic and if you are serious about winning awards with his Springer Spaniel English then you should check the breed standard in greater depth to his country, like Breed standards are not fully consistent internationally.
