How safe is file sharing?
File sharing is a quick and easy way to get free music. I do know that it’s ilegal, though, so I was wondering if anybody knows how you could get caught by doing it? How easily can they catch you, and what are the consequences? What do you think is the safest file sharing program? Is it really worth it? Sorry for all the questions-I’m curious!

well p2p programs have their weakness and their strong points.
What can you find in those network what ever you want, but the problem is legality of those contents.
any how knowledge is power so your question is a valid one.
check out the following network,
Kazaa: many peers (people in the network), not to fast but good to find single songs.
gnutella: use client like limewire or sharezaa, is generaly like kazaa
Bittorrent: awesome good to download full albuns, movies and large files, extreeamly fast (if your conection is fast)… keep in mind that if you want to to use this network you need some kind of source for downloads (trackers), look at some of the source tha i’ll atach.
Emule – Edonkey: nice network, use it if you need some file, program, song that you did not find any where else.
keep in mind that many of the clients that exist to gain access to the p2p network have som sort of adware in them (or advertising-supported software).
Generaly speaking adware is a bad thing, basicly inject to your pc advertising while you use the program and keep track of what you do in the net (monitoring what you download ring a bell??), so i recomend to keep away of such programs.
Virus is a problem in all p2p network, the rule is, DO NOT DOWNLOAD SOMETHING YOU DONT KNOW WHAT IS IT, and plz keep away from executables (exe, bat, pif, etc etc)
