Harness your dog!
There is an old saying "when you know better, do better." That extends to everything in life, to how treat our pets. These days most veterinarians recommend that dogs wear harnesses instead of collars. The harnesses are better for most dogs, are easier on the dog's neck and back.
The harnesses come in a multitude of styles, there's something for every dog and dog behavior problem; if your dog is an escape artist, an extractor, a rabbit hunter, or have medical problems. Not all harness is good for all dogs, but there is an appropriate style for each dog.
The first step to finding the right harness for your dog is to measure it correctly. Manufacturers do not make art dog breed or weight – they use the measurements. The circumference is the most important issue. Take a tape measure and wrap it all the way around your dog's chest just behind his front legs.
