Can someone explain the recovery of a dog to be sterilized?
There are a couple of female pups that have been neglected by our neighbors. I have an aunt who is taking 12 hours to take them in. She's only going to be here a couple of days, and I would get spayed here because it is much cheaper here than where you live ($ 100 vs $ 600 here at home). However, we are worried about having puppies travel soon after surgery. We have never had dogs before, so I know nothing about the sterilization process. Do you think this is safe? Or should rethink having done before exit and wait until she comes home? The cubs are about 30 pounds, 5 months old and are a mix of beagle and Kishu Japanese.
Sterilization is removal of the female reproductive tract of the dog or cat. The veterinarian will make a small incision in the belly of the pups and remove the reproductive organs. The veterinarian of the tie and sew the puppies vaginia a backup. It's pretty simple. The dogs will sleep and sleepiness for a while but usually returns to normal in the afternoon or in the moring. Driving back to them should be fine, but maybe consider the vet put cones in dogs. These are soft, cones plastic expanding outside of the collar. Keeps dogs from licking or pulling points, but are flexible enough so dogs can eat and drink. They look ridiculous, but are very useful. Usually stay on until the stitches removed or degraded. They come in various sizes and dogs must be well with the use of them. If dogs can make the trip to take in it should be fine with taking her home. Hope this helps!
