Teaching your puppy to accept his collar and leash
Learning to walk on a collar and leash is the basis of all courses in each puppy. Until the puppy has learned to accept the collar and leash, it will be impossible to conduct any additional training.
The first step to getting the puppy to accept the collar and leash is to find a dog collar that fits properly. It is important that the collar is neither too light or too heavy, neither too thin nor too thick. A collar that is too clear to the dog can be easily broken, while a necklace that is too heavy may be uncomfortable for the puppy to wear. It is also important the width of the color appropriate for the size of the dog.
Determine the appropriate length of the necklace is relatively easy. Simply wrap a measuring tape or light string around the neck of the dog to get an accurate measurement. It is important that the tape measure is not tense, just a little tight.
Most the collars are sized in increments of two inches, so you may have to meet to get a collar of appropriate size. For example, if the dog has a 12 "neck you could buy a 13 "neck, and so on.
After buying the perfect ring, the next step is to put on the dog and let home use. Do not be discouraged if the dog complains, legs in the neck or otherwise attempt to remove. This is normal, and the dog should not be punished for it. It's best to simply ignore the dog and allow you to work on their own problems with the neck.
The dog should be allowed to use the collar 24 hours a day for a number of days to get used to feel the collar around his neck. After the dog is accepting the neck, it is time to start introducing the leash. A light leash works best for this process. Simply attach the strap to the collar of the dog and let you walk around with it. The dog must be supervised by course during this process in order to ensure that does not receive belt caught on anything. Getting the leash caught or snagged, it may scare the dogs and build a leash phobia that will be hard to beat.
In the beginning, strap should be connected only for a few minutes at a time. It is important to place the strap on the happy moments, such as playtime, mealtime, etc. It is important for the dog belt associated with happy things. When the belt is not attached to the dog, it's a good idea to keep some dog food and water bowls. The dog should be encouraged to investigate the strap, and discover it's not something to fear.

It is important to allow the puppy plenty of time to get used to wearing the collar and leash even before trying to bring the puppy. It is best to perform this exercise at home or other environments where the puppy feels safe and protected. After the puppy is comfortable and content to walk on the leash in the house, little by little you can take out. The best thing is to make these trips were very short at first, and lengthen slowly over time. Some puppies will take the collar and leash immediately, while others may require additional time.
