A History of the Siberian Husky
As the name suggests, the Siberian Husky is native to Siberia. It was there where they were trained for hundreds of years to pull of the sleds by the Chukchi people. The Chukchi were a semi-nomadic tribe that uses the Siberian Huskies to pull sleds with light loads for long distances, which made them an excellent companion for the tribe. DNA tests recently found that the Siberian Husky is one of the oldest breeds of dogs. It was not until 1909 that the Siberian Husky was brought to the United States, where he participated in the All Alaska Sweepstakes Race. A number of Siberian Huskies were imported to Alaska after this initial appearance race and won the same race the following year. The Siberian Husky breed not only went on to win many different races in the following years, but also won known for his speed and endurance as well.
The American Kennel Club did not recognize the Siberian Husky as a breed until 1930. Today the breed is still widely used in several sleds, go-karts and racing events. If fact this breed is responsible for the popularity of these activities. Although in many events, is less common to see the Siberian Husky as they are being replaced by the Alaskan Husky which is bred especially for speed. Therefore, people have started a movement that has run specifically designed for the Siberian Husky.
The Siberian Husky has a new modern role as a co-hiking, pet therapy dog or faithful. The Siberian Husky is often confused with the Alaskan Malamute. However, since the Alaskan Malamute was bred for work and speed shooting not to be identified by their heavy build. The Siberian Husky on the other hand has a very singular. Instead of focusing on color, the importance of a Siberian Husky is their ability to quickly, easily and endurance.
