What is a DC 12V negative ground electrical system? "I can ground the chassis of my car instead?

I recently installed a unit Nissan plant in my land that has no wires coming out of the ground system, so my HU on a piece of metal inside the dash. However, I just read my head unit is to be used with a grounded negative 12V DC power system. My car battery died while using the car, but I figured it was because my car is old, but this could have been the problem??

Yes, any vehicle from the late 50s or early 60's and even a vehicle is 12 volt negative ground. They specify this in the paperwork, so some Dumba $ s that connects to your home energy is not can say that I said no. hahaha.
