How To Find Free Pets
Anyone who has started looking for an animal to add to the family knows that getting a new pet can be very expensive, and it seems almost impossible to find a pet for free. Many breeders ask for several hundred dollars, even for smaller dogs or cats. Golden Retrievers are generally $ 700 to $ 800, Maine Coon cats can cost up to $ 900 or $ 1,000, and rare exotic animals run much higher.
However, taking into account all pets in the world who are currently homeless and are living in animal shelters without love the family, it seems unreasonable and nonsensical to spend hundreds of dollars for a pet when there are so many that need to be saved.
While there are a number of animal rescue organizations and animal shelters throughout the country, there is only one resource that should always begin, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).
Healthy Pets are not always free
Before examining why it is best to start with the ASPCA, which charges a fee for the adoption and rescue pets, it is important note that it is possible to find a pet free, if you are careful and follow some important guidelines.
Search through the ads newspaper classified or online classified ads as PetsAds or PetsClassifieds.us, you can find listings of pet animals that people are giving away. It is important to understand that most free pet ads are the people who are giving their pets for the following reasons:
- It are moving to a place that no pets.
- They can not afford to have a pet.
- They found a stray dog, but I can not help it.
These are generally well-intentioned people, but keep in mind that if you have a pet that no longer can afford to maintain the pet may not be 100% healthy. If you decide to take the classified ad route, just remember that most of the things that the rates to pay at the ASPCA, you have to pay anyway – like all vaccines, medical checkups and sterilization.
It is perfectly fine to find free pets on your own, just remember that pets are not "free." You have to pay for the initial (and continuing) health care for the rest of life.
ASPCA and Pet Adoption
The ASPCA is a wonderful organization that helps promote shelters and animal rescue organizations with an excellent animal care throughout the country. The ASPCA website , You can adopt and save homeless animals in the following ways:
Find a Home
Clicking on "Find a Shelter" appears, will lead to a search page where you can search for local animal shelters by city and state. The ASPCA does not technically support the shelters listed by this utility but offers the search function to animal lovers who need a resource to find local shelters.
This is a very wide repertoire National Housing and is a service to help families with lots of love to offer to connect with animals that need love. The purchase of a pet from a local shelter is essentially like getting a pet free, because the rates of adopting a pet cover much of the initial medical costs incurred if he had picked up the animal as a deviation or free a classified ad. Animal shelters take care of health problems in advance, so that when you adopt a pet from a shelter, you can be confident that the animal is healthy and well cared for.
Moreover, many shelters provide a unique incentive for people to have their pets sterilized properly, offering a discount reimbursement for the procedure with local vets.
ASPCA Adoption Center
The ASPCA Adoption Center provides listings of hundreds of dogs and cats that need homes. The homepage of the adoption center explains all you need to adopt a pet. This is good to read, even if not the ASPCA, because Most shelters require the same information. What you need, when plans to adopt a pet:
• Two forms of ID with your address in it (at least one photo ID)
• Two personal references that can be reached by phone
· Proof of vaccination pet you have.
· Proof of income
While this may seem excessive to some people, it is important to understand that there are plenty of people out there who would not think twice about harming or being cruel to animals. The work of the ASPCA and all animal shelters across the country, is to protect animals from cruelty, and to ensure that animals are placed in homes where they have the best chance of being so loved and cared for as they deserve to be.
The benefits of adopting through the ASPCA (many animal shelters offer the same benefits):
- 14 days of care Veterinary free tracking
- A leash, collar, and pet carrier to help bring home animals
- Educational literature on pet behavior and pet care
- Free spay / neuter, vaccinations, microchip and registration, all provided as part of the adoption rate.
Obviously, the only useful option to find a free pet is going through the ASPCA, or through a local animal shelter. This will ensure that you are getting a healthy pet, and you can feel good about doing their to save a part of a live animal without a home, without love.

The great thing about Nikky is that she is an animal lover herself, and this is reflected in the way it runs its business. Nikki donates 5% of every commission to an animal rescue foundation. This is a wonderful way that you can help support the cause of rescue animals – and receiving a stunning portrait of your new pet in the process.
